Pinterest Predicted Trends

If you read my most recent blog, you would know there is a shift in the market and what's trending. Sometimes giving up on your business completely isn't the answer when shifts like this change, sometimes it just means that it is time to switch up your approach on your business and follow what's trending! So, lets pick apart Pinterest predicted trends, and lets see if you've been moving with the trends, or if you've been left behind, and YES each topic can very much play into any genre of businesses. Is the trend predicting something about clothing but you sell resin art? Well, these too can help you with knowing what kind of fashion people are shopping for and give ideas of what you can add to your shop to go with that trend, and I'll even spit ball a few ideas for you!

#1 Airy Style

"2023 fashion will be filled with lace, tulle, ruffles and shimmer for everyone based on rising searches from Gen Z and Millennials. “Ruffle shirt for men” and “sheer pants outfit” are just two examples of this tulle-y trend. Time to trade in that moto jacket and your combat boots for ethereal details—no matter how you identify. This year will be a femme for all."

You can play into this femme trend by offering more feminine products into your line. More sparkle, more pazazz, think pearls, lace, sheerness. This can play into arts, clothing, accessories. Even if you make dog clothing, make more femmine devine clothing for pets!

2. Rust Married

"So long, something blue. Hues of terracotta, copper and burnt sienna will be frequent guests at weddings this year. Based on rising searches from Millennials and Gen X, you’ll see this smoldering color everywhere in 2023, from floral arrangements to bridesmaid dresses. And hey, if a big wedding isn’t your thing, you can-elope (sorry)."

The wedding industry is an industry here to stay. Any industry can sell and sell well in the wedding market. Resin artist? Offer magnets that go in wedding invites, name cards, and table decor! In the animal industry? Offer pet accessories for weddings!

3. Gemini Hair

Geminis don’t have to choose—your hair shouldn’t have to either. In 2023, two-toned tresses will take off more than ever. Gen Z and Millennials are behind this rising trend in hair color that mixes natural hues with bright blues, purples and pinks—“blue and black braids” and “lavender and blonde hair” are on the up. Two is always better than one, just ask the Gemini in your life.

Now if you're not a hair stylist you may be thinking, how the hell can I get in on this trend?? Well, don't forget hair doesn't stop at just its color, you're talking about hair accessories that compliment tending colors and hair do's, or even just when it comes to marketing your jewelry, people love to see people who look like them within their advertisements, get a vibe on how things will look on them. So this can go beyond just hair, but think clothing, jewelry, advertising, hair accessories, or even pet accessories and hair!

4. Micro Makeover

"From micro manis to barely-there bobs, this year’s beauty looks will be a cut above the rest. Millennials and Gen Z are trading in their long, coffin-shaped nails for mini French manis. They’ll opt for short braids and chopped bangs instead of long, luscious locks. In 2023, small beauty gets its big break. Farewell, so long."

Much like the last trend, there are so many ways every industry can get in on this trend. People are chopping their hair and nails, and this can go into so many different kinds of industries. People are loving macro across the board, and although these were predicted at the beginning of the year, it isn't too late to get in on it! Nail accessories, hair accessories, micro looks but also micro toys are a huge hit! People are loving short, drastic, and cute, now get in on it!

5. Pool Pawties

"Dogs diving! Puppers paddling! Barking belly flops! In 2023, pool parties are going to the dogs. We’re talking party invitations, party favors, party decorations—Gen X and Boomers don’t plan to hold back for their next pet pool party. Jump on in, doggo, the water’s fine."

With no surprise to anyone, in this economy people are opting out of having babies and are getting pets instead, and because of this people are treating their pets like their human babies more and more. With this trend means getting more pet related items in your shop, and more specifically items that pet moms and dads will love. Matching outfits, birthday clothes, pet toys and treats, doggy bday invites. Let your imagination run with this trend, until the economy and climate crisis changes this paws over tiny toes is here to stay.

6. Chance of Showers

"No bath? No problem. 2023 will be all about the elevated shower routine. Gen X and Boomers will turn rinsing into a ritual in the year ahead, searching for shower bombs and home spa bathrooms."

People are opting in more and more with small businesses when it comes to bathing time. From soaps to sponges big corp is known to put harmful ingredients in their products so this means people are leaning more into things that don't just make them feel good, but are good for them and typically that is sourced through a small business. Now how can you get into this trend if you don't make soaps, bath bombs or sponges? Well, start to think outside of the box! From cute soap dishes, shower scents of all kinds, to even just bathroom decor!

7. Sci-Fi Fits

"2023 fashion will be light-years ahead. Searches for dystopian outfits and futuristic fits will spike as Gen Z and Millennials opt for cyber streetwear, galactic glasses and gamer-girl styles."

Now I shouldn't need to elaborate more on how you can get in on this trend, its all pretty self explanatory. When it comes to fashion there are so many aspects that go into it from little charms you can put on your glasses, to jewelry and keychains, but just think futuristic.

8. Rainscapes

"Green living has flourished, but in 2023, people will take water conservation to new heights. And this doesn’t just apply to drought-stricken environments: Boomers and Gen X all over the globe will invest in rainwater harvesting, rain barrels and drought-tolerant landscaping for natural ways to make their homes more sustainable."

Now is the best time ever to get into the plant world. People who are allergic to animals or cant afford them are also opting in to buy plants instead of breeding more spawns of their own. Are you in the plant industry but still not thriving in it? Perhaps take a step back and reevaluate what you are making. Is what you provide keeping up with current trends outside of plants? Is there a way to get what you have and more it more innovative? Do you provide anything that specifically serves more drought-tolerant plants? And if so but you are still hurting, perhaps take a step back and check out what other people are selling that seems to be popping. What's the difference between what you make and what others are making? So many times I have seen people get into a market that is thriving and they're stumped on why they aren't surviving in it but then they sell something within the niche' but they've niched themselves so far down within that niche' that there is only a handful of people that would like it. Perhaps think about the other trends and see how you can tie plants in with them.

This isn't just for pot painters either, this is a niche' everyone can get into. From watering globes to little figurines people can put into their plants. People are spending money, they're just spending it differently now and you can hold yourself back by not getting into these different niche's like plants or you can expand your business and add in a little something something for everyone.

9. Hipstoric Home

"In 2023, people will find new ways to honor old stuff in their homes. Got a hand-me-down handy? These searches are helping people combine vintage—often inherited—pieces with their modern styles. Thanks to the Boomers and Gen X driving these trends, antiques have never looked so chic."

The great thing about the antique trend is that modern antique, or new but with an antique look is also in. This is going far beyond just home but also style and overall creating things that people will want to pass down in generations. Are you a keychain maker and wondering what does this mean for you? Well, you can either make antique looking keychains, or you can make keychains that have deep meaning. Remember people are also loving things small, and people don't just pass down Aunt Margrett's old grandfather clock. They want something that resonates with them and is also something they can pass down to others, not just thrifting but something that can be thrifted.

10. Primal Movement

"In 2023, people will trade their screens for stretches and their desks for tricep dips. These primitive, anti-tech workouts invite people to put down their phones and prioritize posture. Gen X and Millennials are driving this trend up, with searches like “primal movement” and “neck hump exercises” jumping this coming year."

There's one trend that has always been here and will forever stay, which is the health and wellness industry. People will always want to feel and look better, but the approach is what is constantly changing. Different issues arise and with this comes different approaches on how to fix it. Right now there is a huge movement on fixing neck humps caused from gaming and being on their phones too much, so people are stepping away from their constant look downs and looking for ways to fix these. With that also comes different trend needs, for instance parents are making boxes for their kids to put their phones in during dinner time. People are getting more into scheduling and reminders to get off their phones and computers and go outside. Overall, the get up and get out trend is rising even now that were at the end of the year and this is the best time to get in on it.

11 The Yolo Years

"Sorry kids, Nana’s got plans. In 2023, Boomers and Gen X will plan epic bashes for major milestones, from 100th birthday parties to 50th anniversaries. And Oldbashes are way bigger than bingo—look no further than jubilee cakes and thoughtfully decorated cookies. You know what they’ll say: more years, more reasons to party."

People aren't just living longer, but they're also demanding their youth back. No more turning 50 and slapping on a moo-moo and wasting away on your kids couch, 50 is the new 30 and people are acting like it. This means people are now celebrating their lives more and more. Have you gotten into this trend? Do you have anything that screams "over 50 and thriving"? The older generations tend to get forgotten about, and the parties and trends are held for the youngins, but not anymore! Granny wants to feel just as special as everyone else and theres a HUGE market for it.

12 Wildflours

"Green thumbs, get thee a rolling pin. Gen X and Millennials are behind this trend that’s trading bouquets for bouqakes. The apothecary aesthetic comes to the kitchen, with people of all ages tackling ambitious sweet treats like wildflower cupcakes and daisy desserts."

Now as an artist this might feel a little all stopping. How tf is baking something you can get into when you make bath bombs or lip glosses? Well, it goes beyond just the sweet treats, but an overall love for their scents, flavors and their aesthesis!

13 The Fourth Trimester

"People are increasingly coming to Pinterest for their postpartum needs. Searches from Millennials in particular suggest that, this year, people are seeking ways to support parents during that famous fourth trimester—searching for everything from postpartum meals to gifts and essentials."

In previous years post partum was something that went ignored and because of it both child bearers and children have been hurt by it, but now there is a huge trend on taking care of the birthers. This means anything and everything to make them feel at peace and their needs met.
